Independence is easy to claim and harder to practise. It mostly comes down to two habits: saying where a fact came from, and admitting when we do not know.

What this site is
PortsmouthNewHampshire.com is an independent editorial guide to a small New England seaport: its architecture, neighborhoods, waterfront, food and the practical business of visiting. It is not the official city website, not a tourism board, not a directory, and not a property marketing site.
It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of Portsmouth or any government agency. Municipal information — parking rules, permits, public notices — should always be taken from the city's own channels.

How we handle facts

Facts carry sources
Dates, attributions, prices and access details are published only with a named source and a verification date.

Opinion is labelled
Recommendations, walking routes and “best reasons to visit” are our editorial judgement, marked as such.

Unverified is stated on the record
Where something has not been checked, the record says so — not a disclaimer buried in the footer.

No invented specifics
We do not publish architects, construction dates, opening hours, prices, ratings or reviews we cannot substantiate.

Corrections are welcome
Send a source; we update the record and its verification date.

This is a prototype edition
Every place, building, event and itinerary record currently shown is editorial sample content used to build and test the structure of the guide. Sample records are described as archetypes rather than named businesses precisely so that nothing on this site can be mistaken for a verified claim about a real venue. As records are sourced, the sample warnings disappear from a single switch in the content layer.
